For the Design Week 2014 the Brazilian office presents some objects that come from a research in composition and parametric design.

Nolii is an architectural, interior and product design studio, based in São Paulo, founded in 2010, focused on advanced computational systems. For the Design Week 2014 it presents different kind of furniture produced by Katsuhide Takahashi.

nolii, p.ta furniture

r.io.2 is a piece of furniture (2,06m length x 0,36m width x 0,54m height) inspired by a shark gills. Its construction concept is the torsion of several thin blinds (180 degrees) on its doors. These blinds are made by acrylic and also serve as pullers of the wooden doors.
p.ta is set of furniture in which the proposed concept is the rupture in the orthogonal axes at some points. When the tables are gathered, they form different compositions with cavities/voids that can be used to put different things (bags, drinks, plants) without interfering with the user's view.

nolii, m.sa lamp

a.es is a set of four pot holders based on vector fields. As they have organic shape specific of the magnetic fields, with attractor and repulsors points, when they are used together the shape created is very dynamic, giving the impression of only one piece. m.sa are lamps based in origami. Each is a one twined piece of iron, allowing no waste of material. They were developed through a parametric plug-in in that defines the thickness and amount of the cut straps, according to the lighting requirements, space distribution and customer’s needs. Therefore, the modification of parameters allows customization of the piece.
