The future of cooking, according to SMEG
Redefining the home cooking experience is still possible—and the proof lies in SMEG’s oven, which combines multiple functions and reduces cooking times by up to 40%.
Looking at his products it’s easy to understand why. They are ironic, often surprising objects like the cup Dumbo with handles in the shape of sticking-out ears (above), produced in a limited edition of 100,000. But these very likeable designs are also invented to carry out their function intelligently, such as the Table-upon-table bar stool made of two tables stacked on top of each other, one of which can be used as a stool when necessary.
The Kunsthal in Rotterdam is dedicating an extensive retrospective to Hutten (until October 7), illustrating both his early designs and more recent projects, such as the collection of silver for Christofle and the interiors of a building by Dutch practice MVRDV. E.S.
