Four monumental photographs of the pair of artists created in 1999 onwards but never shown in New York. The Metropolitan Museum of Art has brought them together in the Iris and B. Gerald Cantor hanging garden – in an area of around 1000 square metres which offers breathtaking views of Central Park and Manhattan – with an exhibition entitled “Oldenburg and van Bruggen on the Roof”. The four sculptures are based on the stereotypical everyday objects onto which Oldenburg and van Bruggen have conferred a new identity and new functions.

Three are from 1999; Architect’s Handkerchief, Corridor Pin, Blue e Shuttlecock/Blueberry Pies I and II; whilst Plantoir (from the French word for trowel) was created in 2001.
