The iconic 100% recyclable chair

An unconventional chair, characterised by organic and harmonious shapes, with an instantly recognisable silhouette. Designed by Nicholas Baker for Damiano Latini, the Super Chair is a stackable monobloc chair made of 100% recycled plastic. The chair innovates a type of product - the polypropylene monobloc chair - that is undoubtedly among the most characteristic of modern design. It is part of a tradition whose protagonists are masters such as the Danish designer Verner Panton, the German architect Helmut Bätzner and the Italian designer Vico Magistretti. Peculiar is the way in which New York designer Nicholas Baker achieved the iconic shape of the chair: he started with a simple diagonal line, drawn on paper, and then developed it with the aid of virtual reality. From the 3D modelling of a rectangular plane, Baker derived a sinuous, fluid shape that is instantly recognisable.

The real innovation of the Super Chair is invisible, however, because it concerns the use of the latest and most up-to-date technology in production. The product is made of recycled plastic using RE-LIFE® technology, in which the polymer part is obtained by recycling industrial scrap and waste without using fossil resources. This process makes it possible to produce environmentally friendly products that not only do not use new fossil resources but also clean the system of industrial waste and scrap, reworking them into raw material. The material, a filled technopolymer, is 100 per cent recyclable, strong and durable, the latter not being a secondary aspect given the importance of the product's lifecycle with regard to its impact on the ecosystem. Thanks to RE-LIFE® technology, it was possible to create the Super Chair as a completely sustainable, recycled and recyclable product, without compromising on aesthetic quality and mechanical performance.
