The hybridisation between home and office according to Pedrali

Following the increasingly impactful trend of smart working, Pedrali offers a series of furnishings adaptable to various contexts, perfect for both home and office.

Bringing home to work or work at home. Distributed work or domesticated office. The hybridisation of living spaces and workplaces is probably the most important transformation in the world of architecture in recent decades. Accelerated by the health crisis we are experiencing, the phenomenon of smart working is destined to cause impactful, permanent mutations.

It is no coincidence that Domus has created an ad-hoc space for reflection on the topic, the Modern Work column, which attempts to analyse the aforementioned processes from different points of view, involving designers and professionals, companies and institutions.

Among the design brands that are most sensitive to this epochal change is Pedrali, which presented a series of furnishings designed for home-work, i.e. for working from home with all the comforts of a real office. Pedrali offers flexible, versatile, comfortable and efficient solutions that combine ergonomics and aesthetic quality.

Pedrali's proposals include Temps low back, designed by Jorge Pensi, an armchair with a lower back than the classic Temps, so that it can be placed in both meeting rooms and home environments. The Catalan designer has designed two other innovative pieces of furniture for Pedrali: Ypsilon Connect is a self-supporting, soundproof partition with a light aluminium structure; the new "tilting" version of the Ypsilon table can be moved on castors and can be folded and stacked, taking up very little space when not in use.

Toa Desk and Toa Folding Screen are two pieces of furniture designed by Robin Rizzini that can create a workstation within the home. The desk has a lightweight die-cast aluminium structure, with bridge legs that are thinner at the base and wider towards the top, joining the top with a "T" element. Toa Folding Screen is a sound-absorbing partition panel that is foldable and easy to move. It is a useful accessory for spatial and acoustic isolation in the home or office.

Arki-desk and Arki-table adjustable desk are the two new additions to the Arki table family. The first is characterised by its great simplicity, which allows the product to adapt to any type of environment. Arki-table adjustable desk, instead, allows the height of the shelf to be adjusted, enabling work both standing and sitting, to meet the needs of contemporary dynamism. The adjustable desk has a cable management, integrated between the shelf and the panel, which allows the anchoring of a sound-absorbing panel upholstered in fabric.

The combination of polypropylene drawers and tops, set in a steel frame, defines the colourful Boxie storage system on castors, designed by Claudio Dondoli and Marco Pocci. It can be moved comfortably from the living room to the office to the bedroom, always finding the right location. Also comfortable and flexible is the Elinor executive armchair, designed by Claudio Bellini. The product features enveloping upholstery and a synchronised self-weighting mechanism integrated into the seat, capable of adjusting independently to ensure maximum comfort.

The combination of comfort and ergonomics is what defines the upholstered armchair Ester (designed by Patrick Jouin) as well as Vic, a small armchair designed by Patrick Norguet. Lastly, we find two chairs designed by CMP Design for Pedrali, Nym and Nemea, which look to the world of the office but also fit perfectly into domestic environments.
