Hide to organise: the new flexible furnishings by Scavolini

The Italian company presented the innovative BoxLife project in collaboration with the Rainlight design studio and its creative director Yorgo Lykouria.

Today more than ever, the home is a dynamic place, which must adapt with flexibility to different uses and people' changing habits. Especially in recent times, thinking of our homes as fluid interiors has become a necessity. "The house has always been the set that we prepare around us, the stage where we organise the scenery in which we recite our existence. (...) Transformability is the criterion that allows you to control the places you build in the best possible way: me as an architect and everyone as a resident of a domestic space," explains architect Michele De Lucchi – former director of Domus – in a recent interview.

To meet this need, Scavolini, in collaboration with the Rainlight design studio and its creative director Yorgo Lykouria, presents BoxLife, a modular furniture system that conceals the different domestic functions to guarantee maximum flexibility in the organisation of spaces. Designed for both large lofts and small studio flats, BoxLife offers various linear, corner or gulf solutions that allow a room to be transformed thanks to its elegant panelling. Scavolini encloses infinite functions in a single project.

The Made in Italy company offers foldaway, packaged, sliding or drop-down opening systems: from wardrobes with foldaway doors (single or double) in the kitchen – which can contain up to four appliances, an additional sliding worktop, as well as numerous shelves and storage drawers – to sliding systems for the living area, and also the laundry area. For the sleeping area, various types of beds are available – double, single and bunk beds – and two opening modes – manual and motorised. The furniture is also equipped with lighting systems inside the wardrobes, and a series of wardrobe accessories.
