The Mudec – Museo delle Culture in Milan is a large art container inside the old industrial fabric of the city. The transformation of the former Ansaldo factory and the entire Zona Tortona represents the new contemporary and multi-ethnic face of Milan. Completed in 2014, the transformation of the former Ansaldo factory, together with the general revaluation of Zona Tortona, represents the new contemporary and multi-ethnic character of Milan. The main feature of the project by the famous architect David Chipperfield - the current director of Domus - is the contrast of shapes, materials, colours and lights between the halls and the large central square. The curved, luminous walls of the main atrium are contrasted by the earthy colours of Valchromat wood fibre panels, a material imported and distributed by the Bonomi Pattini Group. The vertical panels of the main rooms – lounges, bar, restaurant, library, reception, services... – feature the material in some of the 11 available colours: red, yellow, brown and black.

Also using Valchromat, the acoustic cladding of the multi-purpose hall has been designed with sound-absorbing and sound-diffusing modules and doors integrated into the boiserie with a pivot system. The fibres of the Valchromat panels are coloured one by one, impregnated with organic dyes and bound together by a special resin that gives them unique physical and mechanical characteristics, making the product similar to an HDF. The panels marketed by Bonomi Pattini Group are ideal for 3D machining in interior projects. They have great resistance to bending, are water-repellent, non-toxic and very easy to work. They are available in 11 shades and different thicknesses ranging from 8 to 30 mm.
Mudec is one of the excellent examples of application of the innovative material in valuable architectural contexts or in contract projects.
Also inside the Mudec we find many materials distributed by the Bonomi Pattini Group: doors of various sizes, custom-made furniture, structures for the containment of security systems and the characteristic curved and rectilinear windows located in the main atrium of the first floor.
