Schemata: Papabubble

The design of the new Papabubble shop in Yokohama by Schemata Architects focuses on the relationship between concrete and formwork, inserting glass and tiles randomly.

Schemata Architects designed the Yokohama renovated shop for Papabubble, a brand of artistic hand-made candies based in Barcelona: in their stores, located all over the world, you can see the process of candy making with your eyes.

Like in a small theater, you can see artisans making candies in a big pot with full of melted sweetness. When Schemata were asked for renovation, the client needed to install partition between kitchen and shop.

The intention of the architects was to design a space that resonates with movements of candy makers during the making process, and also movements of their products.
Schemata’s design focuses on relationships between concrete and formwork at various stages.
By making various configuration of concrete and formwork and inserting glass and tiles randomly, they create spaces to welcome and receive visitors, staff and products.
