Tokujin Yoshioka: Finesse

Tokujin Yoshioka’s new project for Toyo Kitchen Style transforms the kitchen from a storage furniture into an exhibition element, completely transparent.

The kitchen space has become more open and cooking has become a performance rather than a simple production.
In that context, kitchen tools and tablewares are endowed with high quality design. Thus, Tokujin Yoshioka anticipates that the kitchen in the future becomes that for displaying the beauty of the tools from that for storing and, in a sense, hiding the tools.
The kitchen has several modules comparted by the steel grid. The smoke glass covers the modules as a veil of glass and unite the expression of the tools inside which bring the design a sort of integrity. By having transparency, the Finesse make it possible to transform itself without limit by reflecting various ideas of individual users.
