Best of #Case di Vacanza
Huts hidden in the mountains or more complex volumes to accommodate family gatherings, the holiday house is a filed of residential architecture that evovle to adapt to the changes of living.
This week, to wish you a good summer, we present a selection of the best holiday homes published on Domus Web.
Overlooking the sea, Nowhere but Sajima in Japan, by Yasutaka Yoshimura, maintains the key aspects of the hospitality experience, while escaping the usual characteristics of a resort; at La Coruña, Dosis de Arquitectura rehabilitates, adapt and expand a pre-existing building of the 60s, Casa V, to host three generations of the same family; still in Spain, the Barcelona-based architects have completed the expansion of the single family house Casa Anoro, where two almost identical volumes coexist, sharing essential roles as “partners in a dance”; and Spanish architectural studio Langarita-Navarro completed in the coast of Alicante Casa Baladrar, a house that can be transformed into an enormous porch, designed to meet the demands of multiple families in the summertime and as a haven for retirees the rest of the year; whilst the holiday single family house V at K in Ostenda by Buro II & Archi+I is a contemporary interpretation of the characteristic fishermen’s cottages in the coastal surroundings.
Immersed in the nature are the Forest retreat that Uhlik architekti created in Central Bohemia as a compact enclosed volume – an object resting freely on the ground with a stern raised on a huge boulder, the weekend house looking at the mountains, designed by Kawashima Mayumi Architect Design drawing a line form the centre of the house toward the mountains and the KHM26, by Dutch architects Tim Piët and Jos Blom, a holiday home characterized by large glass facades and a tough cover of weathering or Corten steel, completely built off-site and located on the boarders of the Frisian lake Pikmeer near Grouw.
The vacation house by PK Arkitektar stands over a moss-covered hill with a view over a river that, in spring, carries the icebergs from the glaciers towards the sea; while for the Village House, a weekend house for a young family, Powerhouse Company revisits the traditional Danish vacation hut, organising a “village of cabins” with individual spaces radiating from the centre.

Best of will be back on August, 23. Have a good summer!
