Ingo Maurer: Floating Table

Presented during Salone del Mobile 2013, the German designer's Floating Table for Established & Sons challenges conventions, creating a curious, unexpected floating object.

During the 2013 Salone del Mobile, British company Established & Sons presented the finalised version of a table conceived in 2012 by German designer Ingo Maurer. Floating Table is a round table with four chairs, which are fixed with special joints to the tabletop, supporting the structure: an ironic interpretation of how we normally use tables. The piece is composed of four solid black wooden chairs, and a standard tabletop with a white Formica top and a black underside to match the chair colour. The table's standard diametre is 1,30 metres, but it is available in custom sizes.
