Pininfarina has designed an electric and sustainable snowmobile

The Italian design studio partnered with Sweden’s Vidde Mobility to develop Vidde Alfa, a sustainable snowmobile that aims to redefine winter mobility in  Lapland.

Swedish startup Vidde Mobility partnered with renowned Italian design studio Pininfarina to create the world’s most sustainable snowmobile, the Vidde Alfa. Thanks to a 130-kW electric motor and recycled materials, the vehicle aims to reduce emissions by about 85% during operation and production.

The innovative and somewhat futuristic design prioritizes both the enjoyment of driving the vehicle and durability in harsh Arctic conditions.

The Vidde Alfa’s battery system sports an internal thermal mechanism to perform properly in sub-zero weather, ensuring regular operation down to -39°C. Vidde Mobility now plans to test pre-series snowmobiles throughout the season with the help of local partners.

In the Swedish Lapland region, snowmobiles are an essential everyday vehicle widely used to traverse the landscape. Finding ways to electrify snowmobiles in the area could, therefore, positively impact nature and wildlife by reducing CO2 emissions and noise.

Production of the Vidde Alfa is scheduled to begin at the end of 2024, with deliveries priced at €26,200.
