Papier Machine

Papier Machine is a toy-booklet that explores electronic circuits: a research by Marion Pinaffo & Raphaël Pluvinage who deal with the “assumed” complex phenomena of our world.

Paris-based designers Marion Pinaffo and Raphaël Pluvinage completed the Papier Machine, a three-years project started at the Ensci – Les Ateliers school and supported by the cultural programme Audi talents awards.

Papier Machine is a booklet gathering a family of thirteen paper-made electronic toys ready to be cut, colored, folded, assembled or torn. They are all silkscreened with special inks that have different electric properties. These toys aim to reveal what is hidden behind our machines’ magic, smarthphones included: a world of materials, shapes, colors, stories and even smells. In other words, it is an expedition in the invisible aesthetics and materiality of the electronic.
