The spectacle of artefacts

In collaboration with Domus, the exhibition by the Politecnico di Milano shows architectural, design and engineering works, all connected to the polytechnic world.

On the occasion of Design Week 2017, with the special contribution of Domus, a selection of architectural, design and engineering works, all connected to the polytechnic world, are placed centre-stage to tell of technological challenges, formal research and the innovations in language that created them.

Each artefact presented is the result of a project which aimed to satisfy the function for which it was created, but also to embody an idea of beauty. The objects selected (whether they be buildings, furnishings or engineering projects), all tied to the polytechnic world, are not limited to instrumental function, but also assume the role of veritable stage-hands, in which a figurative and narrative component comes through which is typically Italian and which emerges with force.

The interactive installation welcomes us into the designer’s studio, amongst architectural models and collections of sketches. All one has to do is take the “right” collection, having been attracted by the title or intrigued by the drawing on the cover, and place it on the nearby lectern. By doing so, never-before seen multimedia content is activated. The narration begins. Films and images come to life on the vertical surface. Changing the collection of sketches changes the project and thus the content projected. A few seconds of viewing and on to the choice of a different theme.
