For the collection, the designers interpreted the principles behind the development of the new Ford GT – innovation, connection and clarity of intent – to demonstrate the versatility of the company’s aesthetic language. Interdisciplinarity and cross-pollination are also key to the work conducted by the design teams worldwide when developing car designs. Biomedical sciences, the Eye Tracking System and EEGs are the tools employed by the car manufacturer to develop its design platforms, optimise driver/passenger compartments and guarantee comfort and safety.
Its presence at Design Week is testimony to the extreme versatility of the Blue Oval. “Countless creative veins run through our global design centres”, declares Moray Callum, Vice President Design of Ford Motor Company. “The public rarely gets to see more than 10% of the work done in our studies. This is the perfect opportunity to share our teams’ creativity and offer our designers a chance to break free from the conventions of the automobile world and make room for innovative ideas that may inspire new Ford projects of the future.”
As well as a sailing boat, guitar and table football, Ford is showing more traditional objects at Design Week, such as a ceiling lamp, a Wi-Fi speaker and two different interpretations of the lounge concept.
Ford Motor Company is also present at FuoriSalone events, for which, in collaboration with Design Week, it helped in the creation of Attilio Stocchi’s Favilla, to Every Light a Voice installation, an immersive experience exploring the different dimensions of light.
