Building regulations for the town houses would have required the architects to build the houses with very steeply pitched roofs. They had to persuade the building authority that creative application and implementation of dormer and staircase-well regulations would create structures of an equivalent nature, without presenting problems for neighbours. The average building height is still at the prescribed four metres. Now, the houses have two main floors and a spacious top floor, providing ample usable space with modern floor plans for future users.
