Guest of honour at the third chapter of “A Matter of Perception: Products & Materials”, the studio Diller + Scofido Renfro have created a scenographic pavilion in the centre of the courtyard made out of 300 pairs of jeans: making it into a place to meet, chat or simply relax. This structure also  serves to introduce the common thread that runs through this year's exhibition, the human factor that according to the curators, “forms the basis of the work of the designer”.

On two storeys of the building, consolidated names appear along with a few new additions. Punkt present the latest additions to their range (such as new colours for the telephones) and three prototypes for city bikes, designed by three schools (ECAL, RCA and Design Academy Eindhoven); the Undecided sofa by Raffaella Mangiarotti for Manerba (made up of a number of soft cubes it can be dismantled vertically to create a high or low back making it more or less enveloping); designs by Industrial Facility, Jasper Morrison and Daniel Rybakken for Creative Japan; glass trays by Formafantasma for Nude; glasses by Federico Angi for Ichendorf; and right at the end, Belgian design collective, “Belgium is design”.

The Bistrot Litta Ventiquattro, designed by Elisa Ossino is also worth stopping off at.
