Upholstery in colours

Moroso brought nine new eclectic, colourful collections to Design Week by tried and tested names from its circle of designers. #MDW2016

Moroso’s production vigour never disappoints and was visible in the pieces, settings and events. This year it brought nine collections to Design Week in addition to two initiatives on the Fuori Salone circuit celebrating 25 years of collaboration with Ron Arad, a designer who made his debut in industrial design with this very firm.

A brightly coloured and packed stand hosted collections by designers with a consolidated place in the Moroso portfolio such as Patricia Urquiola, Doshi Levien, Front, Edward van Vliet and Alfredo Haberli, alongside Daniel Libeskind and Scholten&Baijings plus new entry Mermelada, a new Spanish design studio.

Dutch designer Edward van Vliet played a prominent role with his Blue Edition Collection, inspired by the original Sushi series. Moving away from the first Blue Edition’s profusion of colour, he has now opted for delicate geometric motifs on shades ranging from cerulean to royal and cobalt blue. The collection also includes alternatives in red, green and grey. The great variety of seating options for lounge areas remains unaltered with outdoor benches and poufs, and tall-back chairs for private conversations and face-to-face meetings. The forms are many and such to turn spaces into landscapes where harmonious colours and motifs cement diverse elements together. All the fabrics are sturdy and comfortable materials by Febrik.

The Armada is the name chosen by the Doshi Levien duo for a collection of sculptural seating designed for open workspaces and lounges. The amply formed armchairs allow privacy and discretion; slim upholstered sides and big soft cushions offer the right degree of comfort when working on the move. The collection comprises armchair with tall or low backs and dining chairs on a pedestal base, all upholstered.
