Kristine Norlander: Funkis

In the Funkis series Kristine Norlander captures with her iPhone the graphic rhythm and the clean shapes of the Lassen brothers’ architecture.

by Lassen, in collaboration with the Norwegian photographer Kristine Norlander, has created a new collection of graphic works that celebrate the architecture of the Lassen brothers.

Simplicity, clean shapes and interaction with nature are the defining attributes of the four buildings on which Kristine Norlander has chosen to base her work – including Mogens Lassen’s single-family home in Bakkedal and Flemming Lassen’s Søllerød City Hall, which he designed with his friend and colleague Arne Jacobsen.

“I am obsessed with lines, either as graphic rhythm or as the interplay between the curved and the stringent. Mogens and Flemming Lassen’s buildings each have their own special character, but common to the houses was their characteristic functionalist lines and clean surfaces combined with curved details, while the city hall with its cube-shaped geometric unity allowed for a tranquil and appealing composition. The way the light falls is essential to obtaining a good image, and for me it is all about simplifying and emphasising the details,” explains Kristine Norlander.
