Copy/Pour is a device that responds to the environment it is used in. It allows to make plaster replicas of everyday objects by moulding them right into earth.

The system is composed of a rack and pinion acting as a press, at the end of which is fastened a matrix. This mechanical system is left bare, creating a visible contrast between the industrial aspect of the machine and the empirical properties of the artefacts it creates.

The same duality is evident in the resulting objects, with the smoothness of the upper surface, as created by the matrix, being at odds with the textured and porose quality that the lower parts inherited from the earth surfaces they were poured in.

The resulting unique objects make the environment they were produced in blatant. Copy/Pour simultaneously encourages non-professional processes in the the practice of design while desacralising industrial ideals by turning serially produced items into one-off artefacts.
