EM:toolkit

Italian artist Alessandro Carboni presents the project EM:toolkit – urban mapping and performance practice  at the MAB-Media Architecture Biennale-2014 Aarhus.

EM:toolkit
Alessandro Carboni presents his latest research on Em:toolkit – urban mapping tool for performance practice.
The artist has explored with the body, the city of Aarhus, observing and interpretating the events that occur and happen in real-time in the urban landscape. The artist aims to reveal those events that already exist in urban space, but that we are not fully aware of because they are at the periphery of our attention.

The toolkit, suggests that they are just waiting to be discovered and therefore the work of the mapping process, is to reveal them and activate what would otherwise be latent.

The performance will be made by the artist and by some workshop participants who will play a series of performative actions within the art center Godsbanen, Aarhus.

The performance will be preceded by a conference during which the artist will present videos and pictures as examples of the mapping process developed in Aarhus with performers and visual artists.

The project is part of Alessandro Carboni’s PhD research Performing Urban Complexity, School of Creative Media, City University, Hong Kong. The project is devoped in collaboration with  Participatory IT research centre, Aarhus University.
