Lars Beller, Discipline / 44

The Norwegian designer continues his collaboration with Renato Preti, on two new products geared to the values of simplicity and naturalness.

Lars Beller, Discipline
No cork this year for Lars Beller, but stone and wood, worked to realise his vision of design.
His aim in fact is to concentrate on natural materials declined with finishes that enhance their characteristics without ever hiding them, and to shape them with minimal expedients to make them pleasant to touch. For Beller simplicity is a quality to be pursued with projects developed slowly.
Lars Beller, Touchwood chair, Discipline
For the Maya low table, he chose stone for a top resting on a jointed three-legged structure (displayed on the wall). For the stackable Touchwood chair he concentrates on the development of a paint that leaves the veinings almost intact, to create a natural effect even when coloured; and on gentle roundnesses at stacking points and on particularly smooth parts of the bearing frame (those most touched by hands).
