SFUSO: Retrobottega

SFUSO/small scale practices/ launches a call for projects by independent design labels and D2C designers, architects, makers, and graphic designers, both professionals and students. The results will be displayed during the 2013 Salone del Mobile.

SFUSO/small scale practices/ invites designers, architects, makers, craftsmen, graphic designers, students and professionals to present their work during the Salone del Mobile 2013 from 9 — 14 April, inside the spaces of the Ferramenta Pietro Viganò, an historical workshop located since 1927 in the core of the Tortona Design District.

The Retrobottega exhibition aims to investigate a new emerging productive model, the designer-to-consumer model: "Here, via online sales or relationships with traditional distributors, designers have become their own manufacturers, or created something analogous to the independent record label in the music industry", writes Jonathan Olivares on the pages of Domus 964.

A singular synergy between design culture, practical know-how and ability to tell good stories is the key factor of a new way of production based on modern resources offered by new technologies for prototyping and numerical control producing, on traditional manufacturing solutions and on the possibilities offered by Web technologies 2.0.
