At the client's request, StudioGreenBlue designed an open floorplan divided by a series of screens. The will to invade the space with natural daylight, while opening the house to the street, presented a challenge for the project.
"We decided to create a sense of distance with the concept of looking through fog," state the architects. "This concept breaks up the visual range, without creating a solid barrier. Using the concept of filtering an image, we adjusted the level of visual information penetrating through multiple layers, creating an effect similar to looking though fog."
Moving the house to the back to the lot, the architects maximized the front yard. The first floor was then devised placing walls strategically, and using mirrors and glass to create reflections. The private rooms were separated by using perforated metal screens, each one unique, and arranged in specific locations, creating a series of layers.
