MakerLab

The first itinerant and event-based Maker Lab experiment brings open-source design to the FuoriSalone 2011.

Presented for the first time at the DMY International Design Festival in Berlin the MakerLab project is an itinerant creative hub dedicated to open-source design. Shown in Milan by an international collective of designers and creatives for the Public Design Festival it will be at a different Esterni location every day.

The ingredients: 3D prototyping, laser cutting and a magic box that digitally scans 3D objects, as well as other low-tech methods for the self-production of fabrics and concrete furnishings. Several workshops will share the tools and knowhow of this emergent design economy with participants.
On Friday, MakerLab will be at the Circolo Arci Biko for someWeFab Days on which to meet the Milanese maker community at the city's first Fab Lab; on Saturday and Sunday, they are accepting suggestions for a spontaneous pop-up – why not invite them? Paolo Ceresatto
