Fifty years of ‘Made in Italy’ at New York

Multidisciplinary, eclectic and brilliant is how Italian design from the last fifties could be described. From product design to fashion, from the car to music, theatre and cinema, many are the success stories that have made Italy appreciated around the world.

Telling the story of this success is a travelling exhibition, organised by the institute for foreign business and Cosmit and curated by Vanni Pasca with installation design by Gae Aulenti and Pierluigi Cerri that will be showing in New York from tomorrow and up until 26 October. The exhibition opens with a block of marble of the kind used by Michelangelo and ends with Schumacher’s Ferrari and includes the ingenious inventions of designers such as Franco Albini, Marcello Nizzoli, Gio Ponti and Marco Zanuso, brothers Achille and Piergiacomo Castiglioni and Gae Aulenti; artists such as Lucio Fontano and great film directors such as Luchino Visconti and Federco Fellini.

Over a thousand exhibits take the visitor on a journey through many areas of creativity. Not forgetting of course the catering side, at a small bar in a corner, visitors can experience the taste of a real Italian expresso.
