Adami presented at Cersaie three new collections: Beside, Metal and Optical.

The research path undertaken by Ceramiche Refin together with Massimiliano Adami in the field of experimentation within DesignTaleStudio—a creative lab to share ideas, creativity and experience on design and materials—has now led to the creation of Mosaici d'Autore: a project in which ceramic mosaics are looked at from as yet unexplored points of view and in which unexpected creative uses for porcelain stoneware emerge.
For Cersaie 2011, Refin will showcase three different interpretations of this new project:

Beside – which was previewed during the FuoriSalone exhibition, has now gone into production. Beside represents a never-before-seen use of ceramics, as it starts from the observation of porcelain stoneware tiles in their rawest form, in particular, looking at the reverse side of the tile. .

This B-side, the unexplored face, becomes the protagonist of the collection: the peculiar square textures create a graphic pattern that reveals the geometry of the mosaic playing with the colours and effects of ceramic glazes

Metal, a collection that represents the game that the basic, archetypical forms of mosaic, the square and the rectangle, create running randomly in the different installation patterns, outlining elegant and minimal patterns, reinforced by the precious metallic hues of platinum and gold that characterize this project.

With Optical, that will be presented next April, because it has now reached the prototype phase, we looked into the potential plasticity of ceramics to create textured surfaces able to interact, in an unexpected way, with light, or better with the chiaroscuro; a surface that changes depending on the point of observation. The black/white contrast has been chosen to specifically enhance this aesthetic feature.
