Seoul Design Fair 2010

From September 17th to October 7th, the Seoul Design Fair's third edition expects to attract over 3,000,000 visitors.

This exhibition brings together the best of the design world focusing on revitalization, sharing, and eco-friendliness with state-of-the-art displays. Now in its third year, this annual event has changed its title from the Seoul Design Olympiad to the Seoul Design Fair. It will be held at the Jamsil Sports Stadium of Seoul from September 17th to October 7th, 2010.

As one of the world’s largest design exhibitions, the SDF will create economic growth opportunity now and in the future through new branding, emphasizing societal and environmental relationships through sharing and an eco-friendly mindset, as well as easy access to design for the public. The fair will bring together designers and vendors and create opportunities to exchange their projects. SDF 2010 aims to further strengthen the world design community by connecting buyers and sellers in the industry in a modern interactive environment.

SDF will also feature special pavilions within the main stadium that have been designed by three of the top contemporary designers in the world and are marked by their distinctive and unique architectural beauty: Daniel Liebeskind, Alessandro Mendini and Seok Chul Kim. The fair expects to attract over 3,000,000 attendees during the 21 days in the heart of the Metropolis. The brand value of Seoul City will be elevated through design in 2010, as it holds the designation as the World Design Capital.

The University Student Design Exhibition is expected to be a forum for exchange where the creative enthusiasm and potential of up-and-coming designers as future leaders of the design industry can be measured. The city of Seoul represents the integration of dynamic innovation and deep cultural tradition. Seoul has been experiencing a rebirth as a modern metropolis as it attempts to combine diverse landscapes that include beautiful rivers and mountains within the city with its rich culture based on 600 years of history, and state-of-art information technology. The common thread that brings these diverse elements together is refined design. Young Hee Cha
