Mozoquila House

Vieyra Arquitectos designed a two volumes single-family house connected through a bridge, located right under the famous magical hill known as the Tepozteco.

House in Tepoztlan is a two volumes single-family house connected through a bridge, located right under the famous magical hill known as the Tepozteco.

The endemic vegetation recovered from the area integrates the construction with its surroundings, thus it is more than a simple imposition making the house part of the whole landscape. To achieve this concept, local materials where used for the execution and finishing of the construction such as volcanic stone on the walls that seem to be a natural complement.

The existence of two volumes built on this house have support functions; the volcanic stone volume is where the common areas like the dining room, half bathroom, laundry and laundry dying annex are located. It is separated from the mud volume, where you can find the three bedrooms, each one with its own bathroom and walk in closet.

To unify this concept there is a magnificent bridge-terrace built on Travertine marble that creates a unique union with visual and geometrical relation to a marble pool. This material and its placement 50cm away from the land make this platform something both intentional and exceptional that embraces the volumes that “belong” to the earth.
