Ron Arad’s pixels for the sofa and the rug produced by Moroso and nanimarquina accompanied at Cersaie the new Simas’ ceramics collections.

The Do-Lo-Rez collection, designed by Ron Arad and presented at Cersaie by Simas, is a fusion of two pieces into one single element.

Designed jointly, the sofa, produced by Moroso, and the rug, produced by nanimarquina, can be combined to create a suite of unlimited possibilities.

With this unusual project, Ron Arad proposes a contemporary look at design, bringing the virtual world and the real world closer together. The Do-Lo-Rez project, whose name comes from the expression “do low resolution”, is based around the concept of the pixel, the vital component of the virtual world.

The Do-Lo-Rez collection is manufactured by hand tufted technique and it is available in two models. The two pieces can be fitted together vertically or horizontally, giving free rein to the creation of an unlimited patchwork creation.

The collection was presented at Cersaie by Simas besides the company’s new bathroom collections. Among these the Sharp washbasin, declined in a carousel of colours ranging from classic black to white, to earth tones and pastel shades. A clean yet sinuous line that’s reminiscent of the lathe machining and the washbasins of the past, in which the material is worked to an extreme thinness, almost to the point of becoming a “sharp” slab.

Next to Sharp, on view at Cersaie was also the new Vignoni collection, with its soft contoursinspired by the Italian medieval village with thermal baths Bagno Vignoni. The design, which begins with an oval, proceeds in a contemporary manner, with no ornamentation, and with dimensions only slightly larger than the norm.
