Frieze opens its doors in Los Angeles in February 2019 (from 14 to 19). Frieze LA joins the calendar of contemporary art fairs, including the well-known Frieze London, Frieze New York and Frieze Masters. The choice of Los Angeles officialises the American city as a capital in the global art scene. And it could not be otherwise: many great artists and writers live and work in Los Angeles, the “winged” city that contrasts, from a creative and abstract point of view, to the cool New York. Frieze LA will bring 60 of the most significant galleries in the city and internationally in the Paramount Picture studios, Hollywood's historic site: this marks a very strong link between contemporary art and cinema. The executive director is Bettina Korek, and will work alongside Victoria Siddall for the launch of the first edition.
