Kyla McCallum presented at Design Junction the Equi Collection, that includes the Equi Cone Pendant and a collection of textiles made using metalised fabrics folded into futuristic forms.

The Equi Collection, presented by Kyla McCallum at Design Junction, includes the Equi Cone Pendant and a collection of textiles made using a unique range of metalised fabrics in titanium, aluminium, printed copper and gold that are folded into futuristic forms using a traditional process called pleating.

Her creations are inspired by geometry, balance and symmetry. The latest collection combines the newest materials with some of the oldest production techniques learnt from a British based factory. McCallum has worked alongside the leading experts who have been practicing intricate origami within the fashion industry for over 50 years.

Kyla McCallum says, “Over the past 30 years the pleating industry in Britain has drastically declined and sadly these incredible skills are dying out. With this new collection I wanted to bring new life to this industry by combining high-tech materials with the incredible production techniques. I’ve been working with the pleaters to develop new patterns that are inspired by garment design but used for interior products.”
