From 17 to 20 September 100% Design will celebrates its 20th anniversary with an opening by Philippe Starck and a selection of the best emerging brands and designers.

Philippe Starck will open the 20th edition of 100% Design on 17 September, to coincide with the unveiling of Flexible Architecture, his new ceramic tile collection for Ceramica Sant’Agostino.

100% Design 2014 will comprise four key industry sections – Interiors, Kitchens & Bathrooms, Workplace and Eco, Design & Build. Adjacent to Interiors is the Emerging Brands section of 100% Design where visitors can spot the design stars of the future. It features a carefully curated selection of young companies from around the world. Mexican design studio Jakob Gomez’s (Stand D10) pieces all share a beautiful, pragmatic appeal. Its GiBooth taps into the need for concentrated work and confidential conversations, while its CBFM chair combines precision in composition with the warmth of wood.

Montreal-based designer Löic Bard (Stand D26) will exhibits his Capside lamps that combine abstract geometric forms with a wooden exterior and colourful interior, doubling as both floor lamps and ceiling pendants.

Many companies are making their debut at this year’s Emerging Brands including London-based Sandro Lopez (Stand D29) who will present the Parallax coffee table which challenges the viewer to explore from different viewpoints, as well as lighting company Stableford’s (Stand D32) and Belgian furniture manufacturer format (StandD12).

The International Pavilions features creative talent from around the world including Mexico, Argentina, France, Lithuania, Estonia, Venice, Genoa, South Africa, Shenzhen, Kuwait and Pakistan.

Furthermore, 100% Design has commissioned a group of outstanding design teams – led by Thomas.Matthews – to produce thought provoking installations for the central hubs of the industry sections. The auditorium designed by El Ultimo Grito will host a series of live debates and seminars over four days. The talks programme, curated by Claire Barrett, will boast a range of international speakers including Jaime Hayon, Nina Tolstrup, Maxim Velcovsky and Eric Klarenbeek.

To mark its 20th edition, 100% Design 2014 will also present a range of celebratory events – from an integrated timeline around the central bar designed by Studio Design UK, to a curated exhibition – entitled “Design Kaleidoscope” – showcasing 20 iconic design products launched at 100% Design.
