Japanese design studio Nendo has designed a new air purification device called airleaf mini for Mikuni. When attached to the output vent of fans and air conditioners, the device helps to reduce carbon dioxide in the air. Airleaf mini is filled with tiny beads impregnated with essential oils extracted from fir trees. When air flows through the beads, it reduces and removes carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and restricts the production of radical oxygen.

The device's form recalls a "new shoot" sprouting from a small pot. The iconographic shape of the purifier signifies not only freshness with its white and green colors, but also hints at the sustainable and eco-friendly design of the air purifier. The technology is hidden out of sight, embedded in the working through a process invisible process of cleansing and refreshing the air. In a subtle move, the designers worked in an unusual feature of the purifier: Air purification increases as the "new shoot" grows, allowing users to adjust it intuitively and providing a visual measure of air purification.
