Transparent Time by Tokujin

A new watch for Issey Miyake and Seiko Instruments seems sculpted from water.

Designed by Tokujin Yoshioka, O is a new watch produced by Issey Miyake Watch and developed by Seiko Instruments Inc. Launched at the Basel World in Switzerland in March of 2011 in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Issey Miyake watch project, O plays on the French word for "water", eau. Aiming to refer to the origin of the watch, it is designed as if sculpted from water, creating the illusion that only time itself embraces the wrist of the wearer.

The smooth curvature of the transparent bangle leads to the body's mirror finish; this combination of reflection and dissolution seems to vanish the overall form of the watch itself. Using a new transparent plastic, O opens up a new direction in watch design as amorphous and nearly invisible as water, freeing it from the weight of hard matter.

Release Date: Projected July 2011
