The pink pastry shop of London’s Connaught Hotel

Ab Rogers Design takes care of the interior of the new pastry shop of the Connaught Hotel, where pink walls blend with uniforms and packaging reminiscent of Wes Anderson’s Grand Budapest Hotel.

The Connaught Hotel in the heart of London, part of the Maybourne Hotel Group , has opened its own Connaught Patisserie. The pastry shop, nestled next to the hotel with its own entrance, was designed by Ab Rogers Design studio, who oversaw the interiors of the small room available.

The luminous entrance detailed by a colonnade typical of the Victorian London, leaves space inside for a room marked by a strong perspective effect amplified by the mirrored wall at the end of it. On the two sides the intimate circular marble tables are punctuated by as many lights created by bubbles of blown pink crystal. The focal point of this box is the display of refrigerated cakes, a warm white marble altar that elevates a selection of ten refined varieties. The ceiling has been fitted with a canvas to absorb the sound and soften the acoustics, while the pink of the shiny plaster on the walls continues on the floors through pink ceramic slabs.

The small architecture, finally, is complited with a precise packaging project for sweets and a formal uniform for each member of the staff, explicit quotations of the classic Grand Budapest Hotel by Wes Anderson.
