In 2005 the artists’ group Banners
of Persuasion came up with the idea
of giving new life and meaning to
worn and outmoded red brocades.
They invited 14 young international
up-and-coming artists to design 14
tapestries. At last, after three years,
the time has come to admire the fruit
of their work: a unique collection of
art tapestries ranging from the silhouettes
superimposed on images
of the American Civil War, by African
American Kara Walker, to the coloured
graffiti of Grayson Perry, a British
artist and winner of the Turner Prize,
which invite you to “Vote Alan Measles
for God”. On show at The Dairy,
London, from 10 to 22 November.
