Gordon to direct the Milwaukee Art Museum

The Milwaukee Art Museum has named its new director. David Gordon, who has previously been secretary of the Royal Academy of Arts and chief executive of the Economist. In October, Gordon will take over from Russell Bowman, who after a distinguished twenty year career, will leave the museum.

So what will be Gordon’s first task? To find a way of confronting 122 million dollars of debt left from the building of the Quadracci Pavilion, the extension project designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava which, completed in October 2001 was nominated the “Best Design of 2001” by Time magazine.
