Made official recently were results of the jury’s decision who have been examining projects at the Acquario Romano by the seven groups who reached the second stage of the international competition for the design of a new bridge over the Tiber. The bridge will connect EUR, via del Mare and via Ostiense with the motorway Roma Fiumicino, resolving access to the city from Civitavecchia. The winning group is lead by Prof. Ing. Enzo Siviero of Venice and made up of engineers, Juan Jose Arenas de Pablo (Spain) and Roberto Di Marco along with architects Giovanni Ascarelli, Fabio Di Marco, Maurizio Macciocchi, Patrizia Mauro, Danilo Parisio and Alessandro Pistolesi. The bridge is designed on a low steel arch onto which is hung, via a system of connecting rods, a steel truss made up of tubular steel sections. The truss carries the road and the pedestrian route below. A careful study of the lighting allows the bridge to be transformed by night into an alluring glowing machine.
