Hybrid innovation

Viessmann’s hybrid technology ensures maximum comfort and efficiency in every season, thanks to its hybrid heating and cooling system based on different types of energy sources.

The term “hybrid system” refers to a heating unit or network having heat generators that run on different types of energy, usually one fossil fuel and one renewable source. Particularly advantageous is a solution that combines an air-driven heat pump (running on renewable energy) with a gas-driven furnace (fossil fuel), because both of these energy sources are widespread and easily available.
Having two generators means being able to use the one most appropriate for the conditions at hand and being able to face emergency conditions. Viessmann , a leading manufacturer in this field, offers several particularly innovative hybrid systems.
Viessmann, Vitocaldens 222-F
Ideal for hybrid heating systems, the Vitocaldens 222-F (top and opposite page, top) is equipped with an innovative display screen that allows for the control of timing and functioning. Like the Vitocal 250-S, this unit can be commanded from smartphones and tablets thanks to the Vitotrol application and Vicare. Available in capacities from 1.8 to 34 kilowatts
The Vitocaldens 222-F model is a furnace with integrated boiler, pump and plumbing components. It is an ideal solution for restorations, where invasive changes to the existing technical arrangement are not required. The model’s integrated 130-litre water tank and support furnace offer abundant hot water, always ready for use, even right after a shower. Consumption-savings are great: the activation of the more sustainable generator is automatic and optimised in combination with photovoltaic cells.

Viessmann, Vitocal 250-S
Available in capacities from 1.2 to 19.5 kilowatts, the Vitocal 250-S (above) is ideal for photovoltaic panels. By monitoring the production of photovoltaic energy, the unit maximises its consumption of electricity by always giving priority to the heat pump, thus reducing the cost of air conditioning, heating and hot water

Why are these hybrid systems the right solution for you?

– Because connecting a heat pump to the furnace maximises the efficiency of the heating system.
– Because Vitocaldens 222-F and Vitocal 250-S are ideal for renovations. They do not require invasive changes to the existing technical arrangement. The result is a highly efficient system that can also cool the air in summer.
– Because the Hybrid Pro Control energy regulator automatically controls both units according to economic and ecological convenience. Hence, savings are always guaranteed.
– Because the Vitrotrol and Vicare applications allow you to easily monitor the system from a smartphone or tablet.
