Collage, Luca Galofaro for Antoniolupi

Architecture in the mirror

Collage is a series of mirrors designed by Luca Garofalo for Antoniolupi, that aims to merge the research on aesthetics with the design of the domestic space in one object.

The interrelationship between art and design is today a theme open to reflection, with expressive potential that is still partly unexplored. The idea of combining these two entities has given rise to a partnership between the vision of Antoniolupi and the design of Luca Garofalo. The design for the Collage line of mirrors is based on a shared objective: to merge style research, reflection on architectural form and everyday living in a single object. This vision has already established roots, starting with an exhibition of architectural drawings by Garofalo on show in the Antoniolupi showroom in Stabbia.

With Collage, that initial research was extended and developed further: some of the drawings on show, interpreted poetically, were selected to be reproduced on mirrors using the technique of collage. Different juxtapositions of sheets of stratified glass contribute in such a way to creating a particular light and surprising three-dimensional effect. The images that emerge on the surfaces thus surround the physiognomy of the subject who “enters” into the mirror, in a game of references that in a subtle homage to Pistoletto, evokes the imaginative processes of stratification of memory.
