Yann Sérandour. Rereading Art

The French artist's historical and literary research finds its way into other artists' works to create new 'readings'.

Integration, interference and shifts are the methods adopted by Sérandour for the two works exhibited at Present Future. The Penintent Magdalene is an installation inspired by a Canova work in which the original's missing fingers, which the artist had reconstructed, become a new Magdalene exhibited on a pedestal. Mirrors in a Sotheby's catalogue were reproduced in gigantic form to reveal forgotten places in the World Mirrors aluminium prints.
