What is the value of contemporary jewellery? Who decides this and where is it decided? How does value relate to size, material, technique, history, stories and the name of the maker? This is what we endeavour to discover during a one week experimental workshop, using different materials and techniques - not stopping at the borders of what you know but crossing them because we believe the future is in multi-disciplinary collaborations. The ATN methodology and philosophy will be applied in this workshop.
Trespassers
You may become trespassers, entering unknown domains, stealing from other disciplines and adopting new ways of thinking. You will stretch your mind and not be inhibited by the mental working space of a square meter. In one-day assignments your ability to experiment, play and think will be challenged. You will be provocative and be provoked. You may be subversive but never subordinate.
Workshop
We will work in the studio of Atelier Ted Noten (200 square metre), there is a goldsmith working space (60 square metre) and a nice courtyard (100 square metre). To get an idea of the city of Amsterdam we will provide a map with important places to visit including contemporary jewellery galleries and museums, etc. The studio is equipped with WiFi (Wireless Internet).

1. Liesbeth den Besten, writer, curator and author of the upcoming book 'On Jewellery'.
2. Ted Noten, "Once a bricklayer always a bricklayer"
3. By an auctioneer from Christies Auction House.
