Additions to last year's participants included Galerie Chantal Crousel (Paris), Konrad Fischer Galerie (Dusseldorf), Johnen Galerie (Berlin), Yvon Lambert (Paris), The Pace Gallery (New York), Andrea Rosen Gallery (New York) and Donald Young Gallery (Chicago). Previous Frame exhibitors exhibiting in the main section of the fair included Andreiana Mihail Gallery (Bucharest), Project 88 (Mumbai), Rodeo (Istanbul) and Micky Schubert (Berlin).
Frieze Projects is a unique programme of artists' commissions realised annually at Frieze Art Fair. This year the Projects were curated by Sarah McCrory and were supported by the Emdash Foundation. The artists commissioned to create these eight site-specific works for Frieze Art Fair were: Bik Van der Pol, Pierre Huyghe, Christian Jankowski, Oliver Laric, LuckyPDF, Peles Empire, Laure Prouvost and Cara Tolmie.
The Sculpture Park offers a rare opportunity to see a significant group of international work that is addressed on a public scale. Presented in the wonderful setting of the English Gardens of Regent's Park, the Sculpture Park is ljust east of the entrance to the fair. Entry to the Sculpture Park was an opportunity for all to see work by some of the most interesting artists working today.
This year's Sculpture Park presented work by a broad selection of artists, including new works by Hans Peter Feldman and Ceal Floyer, as well as pieces by Marie Lund and Franz West.
The Outset /Frieze Art Fair Fund, now in its 9th year, enables Tate to acquire works by emerging and leading international artists from London's Frieze Art Fair. This year the £150,000 made available by the Fund is the highest ever.
Other highlights this year include a work by John Russell, Public Sculpture (2010), Daniel Silver's The Smoking Silver Father Figures, (2010).
Three new works have been acquired as gifts to the Tate Collection thanks to The Outset /Frieze Art Fair Fund to benefit the Tate Collection: by Helena Almeida, born 1934, Portuguese, by Melanie Smith, born 1965, Mexican based British artist and by Alina Szapocznikow, 1926–1973, Polish.
This year's selection panel is Nicholas Serota, Director, Tate and Tate Curators Ann Gallagher, Frances Morris and Tanya Barson. Each year, two prominent international curators are invited to work alongside Tate's curators to select works from the Fair. This year they are José Roca, Artistic Director of Philagrafika 2010 and Curator of Mercosul Biennial 2011 and Adam Szymczyk, Director of the Kunsthalle Basel.
