Beetle sound

Inspired by the great variety of beetles in nature, MUT Design Studio created a modular acoustic panel that can be arranged in a number of configurations.

MUT Design Studio, Beetle Acoustic Panel, 2017
Inspired by a visit to the entomology rooms of a natural science museum, MUT Design Studio designed a collection of sound-absorbing panels for Spanish company Sancal, to evoke the image of a beetle. The design bring’s out the beautiful and harmless shapes of these colorful species.

The Beetle acoustic panel aims to find the right balance between sound dissipation and decoration. Sancal has created twelve variants of the product by configuring the six panels of each beetle in different ways. The beetles’ stands are made of oak and can be tinted in a range of colors. The six basic shapes can be combined in any way by the customer, and up to three panels can be attached to the same base. Considering the diversity of textiles, colors and shapes, there is a wide range of possibilities, a little tribute to the biodiversity of beetles.
