At Brera’s Accademia di Belle Arti, Panasonic presented a two-part installation showcasing, on the one hand, the advances made in state-of-the-art audio-video technology and, on the other, the Japanese multi-national’s craft expertise.
The first part of the installation brought to Milan by Panasonic sees visitors enveloped in a multisensorial space that engages all five senses thanks to Panasonic’s cutting-edge audio-video technology: professional projectors, lighting devices, loud speakers and amplifiers.

After this first trial, a second more pensive episode takes visitors to the basement of the Academy to explore the artisanal heart of the Japanese brand, flanked in this project by GO ON, a craft collective that continues the craft traditions of the city of Kyoto. Starting from traditional Japanese craft techniques, the GO ON artisans worked in close contact with the Panasonic designers to develop product concepts with innovative designs.

The concepts presented include an induction table that interacts with objects placed on it, such as Ginsa-no-suki, a wooden basket filled with silver beads that are warmed by the heat emitted by the table-top to the perfect temperature for serving saké; and Gin-yu, an induction-compatible tea-set in handmade ceramic traditionally decorated with silver motifs – using the ancient Ginsai technique – which reacts to the induction top and gently heats the water inside.

Finally, Kyo-zutsu is a compact amplifier made from a traditional brass tea container which emits a sound when the lid is lifted; and Ori-no-hibiki is an interactive table covered with Nishijin, a precious kimono fabric featuring gold and silver yarns that react to the electrostatics of our bodies to activate a sound recording.
