Cassina’s Designers

The concepts of fluid space, technological hybridisation and the circularity of time and shape emerge in the new products presented by Cassina in its showroom on Via Durini. #MDW2017

Cassina’s Designers
In its showroom on Via Durini, Cassina is presenting the upholstered furniture Floe Insel by the Basque designer Patricia Urquiola. Inspired by a trip to Greenland, the chairs are characterised by generous, asymmetrical volumes. They adhere to the principle of flexibility for interiors.

Konstantin Grcic has made an evolution of the Props project presented last year. Called Soft Props, it is defined by a graphic line that almost abstractly draws a space, tracing the perimeter of the couch and creating a more intimate border made comfortable by soft seats and variable cushions.

Working with Cassina for the first time, the Bouroullec brothers are presenting two projects: the Baleno shelves made in thermoplastic material that flexes like the backbone of a whale under the weight of books and objects; and the Cotone chair, a hybrid typology part chair and part armchair. Cotone has a minimal metal structure that holds up soft, welcoming pillows. It has the merit of offering the ease of an upholstered chair in the form of a dining chair.
