Olympic trophies

In order not to lock them in a safe, athlete Gabriela Koukalová designed some sculpture-trophies together with Lasvit, for the Czech athletes in Rio de Janeiro.

Lasvit, specialized in bohemian glassmaking, was asked to produce the Olympic trophies for the Czech athletes. The trophies were designed by Gabriela Koukalová, a double Olympic medalist in biathlon.

Inspiration came from Koukalová’s experience in the art of minting medals and coins, and she decided to connect the trophy with motion, the symbol of all forms of sport. The idea of a sculptural object derives from the desire to expose, and not to lock in a safe, so it can become part of the athlete’s daily life.
