Demanio Marittimo.Km-278
On the beach of Marzocca di Senigallia, the event is an uninterrupted 12-hour flow dedicated to contemporary culture – art, architecture, design, food and innovation.
Amongst rocks, boats and fishing nets, every year since 2011, Demanio Marittimo.Km-278 comes to life for one night, from sunset to dawn, on the beach of Marzocca di Senigallia. The project, directed by Cristiana Colli and Pippo Ciorra, is an uninterrupted 12-hour flow dedicated to contemporary culture – art, architecture, design, food, culture and innovation – a representation of the Adriatic Sea and the beach as a public space and a meeting place.
The beach is a place of thoughts and dialogues, a junction of imagination, a place of economies and urban transformations, nature and sustainable economies, a paradigm of design in empty spaces, suspended between the anthropology of tourists and travellers. As a place for departures and arrivals, approaches and separations, the beach recaps the tale of the journey, of the territory, of Elsewhere along the Adriatic City, the most literary and at the same time the most industrialized of the Italian beaches.
The beach is also a landing place for migrants, a space of belonging and expropriation, encounters and collisions, a symbol of the dialogue historically maintained by the territory with the other side of Mar Piccolo. The beach is a platform for cultural, economic and artistic relations. It is a limes, infrastructure, a landing and destination of future development on the Italian and the transnational ridge.
Meetings, readings, lectures, exhibitions, performances, installations, videoprojections, talks, food tasting, presentations of projects, books and films will convert the beach in a place for discussion and narration on design, culture and innovation, contemporary histories and geographies.
