Chocolaty days

Columns of ice cream and pieces of chocolate, with gold dust to indicate the most special days of the coming holidays shape Paola Navone’ calendar for Häagen-Dazs.

After the ice cream village designed by Nendo in 2014, this year Häagen-Dazs collaborated with Paola Navone at an advent calendar.
The calendar comes in two versions, both of which are composed of tall, numbered columns which conceal delicious and exclusive recipes. The calendar plays on a contrast of textures, with its white chocolate coating and its velvety base, and a wealth of flavor in its 31 pillars of ice cream. The individual chocolate squares for Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day are covered in gold or silver, allowing these special moments to be savored even more.

The design speaks of a refined sophistication and a playful pop. Like an explosion of ice cream bricks: may be split into cubes like a game for all to play and consume day to day or within a moment. It may be enjoyed for a moment of any day or for a very special moment, to celebrate a cherished friendship or the joy of a banquet, as our times of celebration come in infinite forms. All of which are beautiful and precious.

With a touch of irony one may find the magic in creating their own traditions in celebrating with the calendar cake. There are 31 moments to capture. And why not? As there are 31 days counting down the last moments of the year. One may prolong the festivities or start over or never stop. One may play with the numbers as one likes.” Paola Navone explained.
